Development of High Efficient of Wireless Power Transfer Using Coupler of Open-End Waveguide

Abstract(in English) In order to realize a high power transmission efficiency in the near field wireless power transfer (WPT) system, impedance matching of the transmitting and the receiving antennas are required. However, in an actual application, it is difficult to maintain the impedance matching state between the transmitting and the receiving antenna. This reason is considered that change of the impedance of system is caused by the change of the position of transmitting / receiving antenna or the change of the profile. Then, the large mismatch loss occurs and the power transmission efficiency decrease. In this report, we propose a near field wireless power transmission system with an open ended waveguide as a coupler. The use of lower frequency than the cutoff frequency of a waveguide, the mode in the waveguide is the evanescent mode. Therefore, electromagnetic waves cannot propagate and no radiation to outside the system is realized. In addition, this system can be suppressed a decrease of power transmission efficiency when the transmission / reception antenna is misaligned, and it realizes to maintain the power transmission efficiency. Results of the electromagnetic analysis demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system.
