Abstract(in English) Spectral efficiency of photonic networks should be improved in order to cope with the ever-increasing Internet traffic. However, the problem arises that the impact of transmission impairment increases with increase in the spectral efficiency. We propose a novel spectral-efficiency enhancement method adaptive to distance and hop count for subcarrier-multiplexed signals. To obtain the optimum subcarrier-multiplexed signals in accordance with distance and hop count, we numerically analyze their transmission characteristics comprehensively considering fiber nonlinearity and filter narrowing simultaneously. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme considerably improves spectral efficiency in all the network topologies tested.
