A JPEG-Friendly Image Encryption Scheme

Abstract(in English) Conventional secure image transmission systems are based on Compression-then-Encryption systems, where image encryption has to be conducted prior to image compression. On the other hand, Encryption-then-Compression(EtC) systems where image encryption can be conducted prior to compression, are expected for privacy protection. A block-based encryption scheme with JPEG-friendly has been proposed as an image encryption one for EtC systems. In this paper, we propose a extended block-based encryption scheme to improve the safety and the invisibility. The proposed scheme carries out the all encrypt operations in the YCbCr color space, although the conventional scheme does in the RGB color space. This proposed encryption allow us more freely to encrypt images without degrading the JPEG compression performance than the conventional scheme. In this paper, to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed encryption, we discuss the compression performance of encrypted images and advantages of the proposed scheme.
