Abstract(in English) | Pupil diameter changes in response to the luminance of object to adapt various levels of lighting condition. In this study, focusing on the characteristics, we investigated pupil fluctuations when a participant looked at a visual stimulus whose luminance sinusoidally changes. Then we proposed an eye-gaze data input methodology based on the results, and its effectiveness was assessed by using a numeric visual keypad with twelve number. In Experiment 1, a circular visual stimulus with luminance oscillation with various frequency was presented, and pupil diameter fluctuation was analyzed while viewing the stimulus. As a result, there was a clear relationship between the stimulus luminance oscillation and pupil diameter fluctuation up to about 2.5 Hz of frequency. In Experiment 2, twelve visual stimuli with different luminance frequencies were presented at the same time and the participants looked at one of these stimuli. The result showed that the stimulus looked at by the participant was identified based on the correspondence between the luminance frequency of the stimulus and the pupil fluctuation, indicating that this method can be used as a new information input interface by pupillometry. |
