Abstract(in English) Distortion compensation using phase-conjugated twin waves has been proposed to overcome the transmission limit of optical fiber links due to fiber nonlinearity. In this paper, we show the equivalence of polarization-multiplexed binary phase APSK signals and polarization-multiplexed phase-conjugated twin waves in QAM format. Numerical simulations with consideration for polarization mode dispersion show very similar transmission characteristics in both methods, irrespective of the magnitude of polarization dispersion. The difference between the two transmission methods lies in training symbols used in adaptive filters of the receiver; simulation results show a slight difference in the quality of convergence.
