Abstract(in English) The recent shift towards network function virtualization (NFV) encourages the vision of a cloud-like on demand provisioning of network services. However, while NFV drastically improves deployment speed, service provisioning at the telecom carrier is still bottlenecked by trial-and-error dominated service design and testing phases which are necessary to ensure the fulfillment of service performance and QoS requirements. In this research we propose an automated approach to service resource dimensioning using a performance estimation method and a cost ranking algorithm that could assist carriers in reducing the total service provisioning time. In a small-scale experimental testbed environment we could provision cost-optimal configurations of services consisting of ten service functions with performance and QoS guarantees in less than one hour using our approach.
