Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The application of pulse compression to parametric ultrasound using chirp modulation have been proposed to realize low-frequency ultrasound imaging. However, the application of chirp modulation to the parametric ultrasound generates sidelobes which affect signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of image quality. In the present study, maximal length sequential (Msequential) modulation is applied to parametric ultrasound to improve the SNR of parametric ultrasound imaging. The pulse widths of pulse compressions of chirp-modulated and M-sequential modulated parametric ultrasounds directly received in water were agree well with the theoretical value. In addition, the increase of the order of M-sequential code decrease time sidelobe level of pulse compressed signal. Obtained images of a single brass rod in water indicated that although the application of chirp modulation showed time sidelobes after mainloabes, that of sixth order of M-sequential modulation reduced sidelobes around mainlobes and improved the image quality. These results suggest that the application of M-sequential modulation to the pulse compression is a useful method to improve an image quality even in low-frequency ultrasound imaging using parametric ultrasound.
