| Abstract(in English) | A survey was conducted on the use of ICT by visually impaired people. Of the 305 respondents, 180 (59.0%） used mobile phones (keitai), 162 (53.1%) used smartphones, 66 (21.6%) used tablets, and 288 (94.4%) used personal computers. The use rate of smartphones doubled, and that of keitai decreased by about 20%. The higher the age was, the higher the use rate of keitai and the lower that of smartphones became. The object recognition, color recognition, and light detection apps that are developed for visually impaired people were used by a certain number of respondents. The text entry methods on touchscreens with a screen reader were investigated in detail. |
