Abstract(in English) | This paper presents a circular phased array weighted-polarization 4 × 4 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with the capability of angle of arrival (AOA) estimation, aiming at realizing gigabit high-speed communications for use in ad hoc network connected car systems. Firstly, the structure and functional features of the 4 × 4 weighted-polarization MIMO antenna system is described. Then, a method of estimating an angle of arrival for incident waves using an interferometric monopulse technique is illustrated. On the basis of an electromagnetic field analysis, it is clarified that the proposed method achieves a high degree of accuracy for AOA estimation. In the subsequent section, a methodology of controlling the radiation gain in the direction of incident waves is explained. A Monte Carlo analysis of the 4 × 4 channel capacity using the proposed antenna is carried out. The results show that a high level of channel capacity can be obtained regardless of the direction of communication, confirming that the developed technology has a high potential to realize ad hoc network connected car systems. |
