Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Victim’s protective actions, such as hitting and kicking sexual offenders, reportedly increased victim’s success in thwarting sexual exploitation. Yet, their protective actions might increase the risk of offenders’ physical violence and sexual exploitation. To examine effects of the protective actions, we analyzed 116 official suit documents about sexual offence. The documents were categorized into complete and attempt cases. Results suggested that victim’s protective actions without offender’s physical violence predicted attempt cases. Hit and away technique could be the best protective action in thwarting sexual exploitation.
