Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Biber et al. (1998, 2002) have defined Lexical Bundle (LB) as “recurring sequence of three or four words.” LB as a guiding clue permits us to find unknown recurring sequences. The definition, however, implies that the LB could include free combinations and hence the number of LB abstracted from corpora would be so numerous. Such excessive amount of free combinations can be controlled according to rhetorical rules such as binomial and intensifying similes patterns.
