Abstract(in English) | We investigate link and node transmission characteristics assuming future large-traffic scenarios and maximize the spectral efficiency of networks that employ distance- and hop count-adaptive modulation. First, we evaluate the maximum transmission distance and hop count of M-QAM signals considering various link and node transmission characteristics. Second, based on the results, we maximize the spectral efficiency by applying distance- and hop count-adaptive modulation. As a result, the recently proposed sparsely intra-connected node architecture is shown to be a practical solution for constructing the large-scale node needed in the future. The paper will provide a guideline for designing future large-scale optical nodes. |
