Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Performance comparisons between dedicated/shared path protected coarse granular routing optical networks are presented. The coarse granular routing can mitigate the filter narrowing effect caused by wavelength selective switches in nodes traversed by an optical path. Two different protected coarse granular optical network architectures are introduced. Degradation of routing performance given by the routing scheme and the path protection is compensated by the use of efficient routing algorithms which are developed for these architectures. The superiority of the two coarse granular routing network architectures over conventional networks is verified through numerical experiments where the number of necessary fibers is reduced by ~20%.
