Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This practical study attempts to investigate the effectiveness of a multimedia learning material powered by MS PowerPoint (PPT) developed by the author in conjunction with extensive reading (ER) and other materials on senior high school students’ reading comprehension. Special focus was placed on its effect on rapid reading competence and reading comprehension. The author analyzes the influences on learning effectiveness, and discusses the usability of the learning materials used in actual classes from April to December 2016. Comparisons between pre- and post-exposure questionnaires and the results of the rate of increase in words read per minute (WPM) clearly indicated significant improvement in reading strategies, reading comprehension scores, and reading speed.
