Development of VR Inspection System for Optokinetic Nystagmus Examination

Abstract(in English) Dizziness has different symptoms depending on the site of disease occurrence, and abnormality occurs in optokinetic nystagmus when disease occurs in cerebellum and brainstem. There is an examination using a rotating drum called optokinetic nystagmus examination, but it requires very large scale apparatus. In this research, we developed a space-saving dizziness test system using Head Mounted Display (HMD) "FOVE" which can measure eye movements and reproduce a rotating drum in a VR environment. In this paper, we verify the accuracy of FOVE 's eye tracking function and report on optokinetic nystagmus in a VR environment with HMD wearing for healthy participants.
