Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For downlink multi-user multi-input multi-output systems (DL-MU-MIMO), non-linear precoding (NLP) based on Tomlinson- Harashima precoding (THP) that determine the perturbation vector modulo operation are investigated as a promising scheme with a good balance between transmission performance improvement and the computation complexity compared to linear precoding. In order to improve the transmission performance of DL-MU-MIMO THP, the conventional works studied employing various approaches to DL-MU-MIMO THP such as minimum mean square error (MMSE) based successive pre-interference canceling and ordering of the transmission signals or lattice reduction of the MU-MIMO channel matrix, and their combination. Unfortunately, in these approaches, the transmission performance degradation is unavoidable compared to Vector Perturbation (VP) based DL-MU-MIMO (DL-MU-MIMO VP) with the ideal transmission performance. On the other hand, the recent works are investigating a novel approach of DL-MU-MIMO THP that achieve the same transmission performance as DL-MU-MIMO VP quite efficiently. The novel approach is expanded by the combination of selecting the a suitable candidate from various perturbation vector candidates and employing an efficient optimal solution search algorithm for determining the perturbation vector based on the modulo operation. This paper tries to survey DL-MU-MIMO THP while comparing to DL-MU-MIMO VP and introduces the various approaches including recent works to improve the transmission performance of DL-MU-MIMO THP.
