Discrimination Method of Pedestrians and Cars by Broadband Radar with Narrow Receiver Bandwidth

Abstract(in English) The authors have proposed a broadband radar system (stepped multiple frequency CPC radar) capable of multi-target separation and achieving high range resolution in the narrow receiver band. And we have proposed Space-Time Adaptive Signal Processing (ELD-STAP) that suppresses unnecessary waves from road and structures and interference waves from other radars using the multi-frequency step CPC radar output signal. We obtained field measurement data of pedestrians crossing the road using this radar under some environments where clutter from the side of the road exists. We studied the method of discriminating between pedestrians and vehicles using feature quantities of ELD-STAP results and report the results.
