Experiment on selective mode conversion using dual-phase modulation

Abstract(in English) For realizing the optical network based on mode division multiplexing, it is necessary to develop the technology which accurately converts spatial modes of light. In this paper, we report the experimental results on the mode conversion using dual-phase modulation, which is the method for the complex amplitude modulation. In the experiment, LP0,1 that emerged from a single-mode fiber was converted to three different spatial modes (LP0,1, LP1,1e, and LP1,1o). The complex amplitude distribution of the converted spatial mode was measured, and the modal crosstalk was estimated. As results, the crosstalk was suppressed less than -20 dB for every conversion.
