Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, we have developed an optical fiber hydrogen sensor based on a hetero-core fiber structure using palladium (Pd) nano-particles. Pd nano-particles have a large ratio of atom at the surface so they enable hydrogen sensors to absorb and release hydrogen more quickly. We evaluated the sensor responses and sensitivities of four kinds of hydrogen sensors for 4% hydrogen, which were fabricated by immobilizing the Pd nano-particles with different immersion times. As a result, the sensor sensitivity at 4% H2 for a hetero-core optical fiber hydrogen sensor with Pd nano-particles was improved by increasing the immersion time.
