Abstract(in English) | To enable high-speed distributed strain/temperature measurement along optical fibers, we have developed a new configuration of Brillouin optical correlation-domain reflectometry (BOCDR)―named slope-assisted BOCDR (SA-BOCDR). Its basic operation has been investigated, and besides, it has been proved that strained/heated sections even shorter than the nominal spatial resolution can be detected. Although this “beyond-nominal-resolution” effect is an attractive advantage for practical applications, the detection of strained/heated section shorter than the current world record has not been demonstrated yet. In this work, by exploiting this special effect of SA-BOCDR, we demonstrate the detection of 2-mm-long―shortest ever―strained section in sensing fiber. |
