Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are engaged in researching set-partitioning multi-level coded modulation for the purpose of increasing the capacity of satellite transmission. We have previously designed a 64APSK coded modulation whose number of circles allocating constellation points was restricted to four and confirmed that it can achieve better transmission performance than the gray mapped 64QAM. In order to perform more efficient transmission with high channel capacity, the flexible constellation design without restricting not only the number of circumferences but also circumference arrangement is worth considering. In this report, we first discuss the design results when the number of circles is set as the design parameters. We then propose a design method that constellation points are not arranged circumferentially but at arbitrary coordinates in the IQ plane. We indicate that the proposed method can increase channel capacity compared to the previous design method with circumference arrangement. Finally, bit allocation and optimization of LDPC coding rate distribution are performed for the constellation designed with the proposed method , and the transmission performance under the AWGN is evaluated by computer simulation.
