Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | For the past several decades, many studies have been reported about the influence of the material of musical instruments on the timbre. In most of these reports, however, they investigated the effects in the audible frequency band. With the recent development of information and communication technology, high resolution recording and reproducing technology is becoming available for various systems. And in recent years, reasonable price version of wind instruments made of plastic (ABS resin) has appeared, which is used for educational and outdoor applications because of its ease of availability. In this study, we analyzed the acoustic characteristics including the inaudible frequency band using 192 kHz / 24 bit high resolution measurement system and vibration pickup in an acoustic anechoic chamber. We used conventional and resinous instruments for the three types of wind instruments such as trumpet, clarinet and alto saxophone. Harmonic overtone components in the inaudible range were measured for any instrument, which seems to be necessary for comparison of the acoustic characteristics of musical instruments. We examined the usefulness of 768 kHz / 32 bit super high resolution recording method in the measurement of musical sounds. |
