Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Brillouin scattering method enables to evaluate thin films or transparent materials in the range from several hundred MHz to GHz. This technique gives us in plane longitudinal and shear wave velocities of films and sample surfaces. However, the measurement time is long because of the very weak scattered light from thermal phonons. To overcome this problem, we used piezoelectric thin films (ScAlN or ZnO thin films) to induce the longitudinal and shear acoustic phonons. As a result, the measurement time was significantly shortened up to 1/350.
