Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The booming of consumer electronic devices led to hand gestures being focused on as a natural means of man-machine communication. However, previous gesture-detecting systems had restrictions such as “not being able to use in dark places.” In this study, we discuss AudioGest, which is the system which utilizes pairs of a speaker and a microphone built into personal computers or smartphones to detect user’s hand gestures by Doppler shift effect. This system overcomes the problems the previous methods had. We implement the system to verify its functionality under several environments.
