Frequency Response of Differential Mode O/E Conversion and Common Mode Rejection Ratio in Coherent Receivers

Abstract(in English) A typical coherent receiver consists of two 90-degree optical hybrid mixers, four sets of balanced photo-detectors (PDs), four linear trans-impedance amplifiers (TIAs), etc. It outputs only the differential mode between the signal input and LO input, while the common mode in the signal or LO inputs themselves are cancelled out by the balanced detection. In this paper, we report frequency responses of a commercially available Type 2 integrated coherent receiver (ICR).The measurement method we proposed is using two sets of two tone lightwaves whose frequency differences between the tones are slightly different.
