Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Appropriate setting of boundary conditions and excitations are key point to master electromagnetic simulators. In this paper, commonly used port excitation at the end of waveguide, or transmission line, is investigated. The relationship between the port in the analysis model and logical port, which is used in S-parameter, is not clear, and it is clearly defined. In port excitation, appropriate distance is necessary between the port to discontinuous position in order to eliminate effect of higher order modes, which arise at the discontinuous position. Influence of higher order modes is investigated using electromagnetic simulator. It is shown that appropriate distance is necessary between the port and discontinuous position. It is shown that the lowest higher mode must decay at least -10 dB from discontinuous position to the port.
