Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Nanoscale optical waveguides based on surface plasmon polariton (SPP) have attracted researchers because the SPP mode is strongly localized in the nanoscale region. Most studies on plasmonic waveguides have concentrated on using the plasmonic mode excited by the TM mode. In this paper, analysis of the TE mode in metal assisted silicon waveguides is carried out using the finite element method. To design refractive index sensors with high sensitivity, we evaluate the optical confinement factor. In addition to this, we compare silicon wire waveguides with metal-assisted silicon waveguides from the perspective of bending loss.
