Low-overhead Storage Access Method Based on Device Off-loading

Abstract(in English) Overhead of data transfer in storage access is increasing as a result of performance increase of SSDs and networks. In order to avoid this overhead, hosts need to access SSDs under storage nodes directly. However SSDs and addresses accessed by hosts should be assigned by storages because they manage data location in SSDs. This paper proposes Device Off-loading method that hosts access SSDs and addresses assigned by storages. Storages that are applied this method identify SSDs and addresses correspond to access requests from hosts, and direct hosts to access them instead of storages. Through direct accesses to SSDs by hosts, this method minimizes overhead of storages and increases performance.
