Focus and Frequency Evaluation of Focused Ultrasonic Probe Using Concave Transducer

Abstract(in English) The focal position of the focused ultrasonic probe using a concave transducer was investigated for the focal points of probes with different radius of curvature. The aperture angle was set as in the case of the acoustic lens type focused ultrasonic probe as the parameter at design time, and when the aperture angle was small, it was confirmed that the focal position was influenced by the wavelength. The focal position is formed by a direct wave and an edge wave, and when the aperture angle is small, the influence of the edge wave becomes large. When the influence of the edge wave is large, the focal position varies depending on the wavelength of the ultrasonic wave, but the frequency to calculate the wavelength differs according to the evaluation method. In the JIS standard, the frequency is obtained by FFT of the reflection signal, but in calculating the wavelength it is better to calculate from the signal period.
