Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive technique used for treatment depression and diagnosis brain function. However, the stimulation intensity may be different depending on coil orientation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the induced electric field in the brain by TMS under various stimulation conditions and determine the optimal orientation of the coil. We created 18 realistic human head models and 6,900 scenarios of the TMS exposure were considered. As a result, the distance dependence of induced electric field is considered to be almost uneven due to the model. Also, it was found that the angle of the coil which induces the maximum electric field differs depending on the shape of the gyrus. In the specific region, the optimal coil angle common to most head models was projected on the standard brain.
