Personal Authentication Using Iris Images Captured Under Visible Light Condition

Abstract(in English) In this study, we proposed the personal authentication method using an iris image captured under the visible light environment. The feature extraction for iris recognition employs the characteristics of local luminance variation or gradient direction of iris patterns. From experimental results, the recognition accuracy of the gradient direction feature is higher than that of local luminance variation, the EER of gradient direction feature is 5.03%. In addition, the difference between the capturing conditions in the registration and authentication process affects the recognition performance.
