An Optimization of Adaptive Bit-loading Algorithm for LDPC-coded BICM-OFDM systems

Abstract(in English) In the combination of bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) and orthogonal frequency-division mul- tiplexing (OFDM), the throughput can be enhanced by per-subcarrier adaptive bit allocation. In this study, we propose a simple bit-loading algorithm for LDPC-coded BICM-OFDM systems. The proposed algorithm exploits FER performance of LDPC-coded BICM-OFDM system simulated with a unique (non-adaptive) modulation over an AWGN channel as the threshold to determine the modulation scheme for each subcarrier. We also investigate the use of the average Euclidean distance of a coded bit as the indicator to evaluate FER performance of the proposed system.
