Abstract(in English) | Optical devices utilizing optical Kerr effect in optical nonlinear medium have a potential to control light by light. Therefore,a lot of studies have been carried out to realize optical signal processing devices,such as optical switches and optical logic gates. A lot of design theories of optical devices have been established over the past years, however,these conventional design theories cannot always be applied to the nonlinear optical devices. Thus,universal and efficient design approach is required. In this study,automatic design optimization based on BPM and AVM is extended to design nonlinear optical devices with Kerr type nonlinear medium.As design examples, optical logic gates are designed. |
