Optimal Placement of Multiple Cache Schemes for Information Centric Networking

Abstract(in English) Information Centric Networking (ICN), which retrieves content by indicating a location-independent content name has attracted much attention. NDN (Named Data Networking) is one of typical ICN methods. In- -network cache in NDN makes it more efficient to retrieve content and reduces network traffic. Although a lot of in-network cache algorithms are proposed, none of them is evaluated in actual network topologies. This paper investigates the optimal cache allocation by simulating various combinations such as topology and cache algorithms. We implemented four typical cache algorithms in ndnSIM on ns-3 and measured content retrieval hop counts and cache hit rate. The results show that, Probabilistic Caching scheme is effective. Probabilistic Caching is effective in the network core while Age Based Cooperation is effective at the network edge in a small AS. The Betweenness is effective in the network core while Probabilistic Caching is effective at the network edge in a middle or large AS.
