[Invited Talk] Characteristic Analysis of Optical Path Penalty for NG-PON2 Coexisting with Other Systems on Same ODN

Abstract(in English) We clarify the dominant factor of an optical path penalty, which is generated by the linear/nonlinear crosstalk and the chromatic dispersion, from the view point of the BER (Bit Error Rate) with 1G-, 10G-, RF video signal transmission system, and NG-PON2 Coexisting Systems on the same ODN(Optical Distribution Network). An optical path penalty is experimentally demonstrated. The maximum path penalty of the chromatic dispersion is about 1 dB, and the linear/nonlinear crosstalk is less than 0.2 dB at each system. Moreover, the effect of the nonlinear crosstalk is confirmed at a parameter of an optical input power and a fiber length. The result shows that the SPM/XPM (Self/Cross Phase Modulation) caused by the change in the nonlinear refractive index is the dominant factor in the nonlinear crosstalk.
