An Energy Efficient Date Collection Scheme in Wireless Sensor Network with a Mobile Sink

Abstract(in English) This paper focuses on wireless sensor networks under the situation that a mobile sink traverses a fixed route in sensing area with a constant speed, to collect data. For this kind of networks, we propose a scheme to reduce the traffic volume passing through multihop communication and to save power in comparison with the recently proposed sink system called ‘SinkTrail’. Each sensor records the number of hops to mobile sink in the Sink Trail. In our proposed scheme each sensor records the number of hops to estimate the direction of moving sink, and waits data transfer until the moving sink is sufficiently close to each sensor. Simulation results show clarify the efficiency of our proposed scheme with almost 30% reduction of the total number of communications, compared with the existing scheme.
