Development of Mobile Terminal Dual Band Antenna for Collaborative Interference Canceller

Abstract(in English) It has been considered to improve the downlink throughput in cellular access networks by using the multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) transmission technology. Collaborative interference canceller (CIC) has been proposed to construct a virtual MIMO system by sharing received signals at mobile terminals in the vicinity each other using a higher frequency band. We have a license to use the 4.45 GHz and 12.9 GHz bands on the air for experiments of CIC. However, it is difficult for us to get omnidirectional antennas which we can use in the 4.45 GHz or 12.9 GHz band. In this manuscript, we design and manufacture a printed monopole antenna which has a highly and omnidirectional radiation pattern in the 4.5 GHz and 12.9 GHz bands. We evaluate the prototype antenna by measuring the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and radiation pattern. Finally, we examine a design scheme to downsize the printed antenna.
