A Wideband Beam Forming Network with Two Types of Phase-Shifters for Multi Beam Antenna

Abstract(in English) Demands on high throughput communication for airplanes and ships by high throughput satellite using Ka-band have been increased. In Ka-band satellite communication, a multi-feeds per beam system consists of reflector and multiple primary feeds is widely used. In this system, a beam forming network is required to share elements between adjacent beams. In this paper, we propose a wideband beam forming network with two types of phase-shifters. In order to achieve lower phase deviation, we reduced the difference among input to output port path length of BFN, adopting both of normal crank-type phase-shifters and proposed taper-type phase-shifters. We fabricated a flangeless 20GHz-band 16-beam beam forming network. The measured results demonstrated an amplitude deviation of 0.6dB p-p and a normalized phase deviation of 60deg p-p in 17-20.5GHz.
