Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Multistable perception occurs when given stimulus has two or more different interpretations. Recently, the research of Tang and Juusola. suggested that the multistable perception may occur even in Drosophila. Inspired by their research, Nakamoto et al. hypothesized that Lobula plate tangential cells(LPTCs), which is the network consisted of the motion-sensitive neurons in the optic lobe, underlies the phenomena in Drosophila and then analyzed the stability of the network. As a result, it was demonstrated that the network becomes multistable when provided with two types of stimuli, front to back or back to front. In this research, referring to the research performed by Suzuki et al. and Nakamoto et al., two LPTCs models, 6-LPTCs model and 16-LPTCs model, were constructed. Although Suzuki et al. and Nakamoto et al. incorporated the empirical model for the graded synaptic transmission mechanism into their models, it was replaced with the model which had been constructed based on Leech physiological data in our models. As a result of the simulation of our models, it is demonstrated that the network becomes multistable when given front to back or back to front stimuli. This result suggests that the multistability in visual perception is related to the behavior of LPTCs network.
