Abstract(in English) | A universal time-domain windowed orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (UTW-OFDM) is proposed as a new waveform to strongly reduce out-of-band emission for the 5th generation mobile communication systems (5G). In this UTW-OFDM, overlap margins are prefixed and suffixed to cyclic prefix-based OFDM symbols, and then extended symbols are multiplied by long time-domain window and overlapped with successive symbols to ensure the effective CP length. Meanwhile, small cells densely deployed as a part of 5G heterogeneous networks allows the reduction of the effective CP length due to the short-delay multipath environment. In this report, we propose a UTW-OFDM enabling the simplification of the transmitter architecture compared to the conventional UTW-OFDM by omitting overlap margins and symbol overlapping. The performance of this scheme is evaluated by simulating the characteristics such as out-of-band emission, error vector magnitude (EVM) and block error rate (BLER) with 5 MHz LTE downlink parameters with using the 3GPP Extended Pedestrian A (EPA) channel model assuming the short-delay multipath environment. |
