Development and evaluation of wild bird identification system using audio sensing and machine learning

Abstract(in English) In recent years, prevention of damage to fishing or agriculture caused by wild animals becomes an important problem. Various solutions have been proposed in order prevent the wildlife damage, but the solution for supporting coexistence of humans is attracting attention for conversing ecosystem. Therefore, in this study, a new sensing system which can automatically identify a kind of bird is proposed by focusing on the observation of wild bird. In the proposed system, the sensor node which is deployed on the field measures sound of the circumstance, and automatically uploads the audio data to the analysis server on the Internet. In addition, the analysis server identifies a kind of bird flying near the sensor node by analyzing the audio data with a machine learning technology. By utilizing the proposed system, habitats of wild bird can automatically be identified, and the coexistence of humans can be supported based on the analytical results.
