An Approach to CISTEM Education utilizing Robotic Platforms

Abstract(in English) In Hiroshima prefecture, Collaborative Educational Project of Clinical Informatics and Technology has being implemented as a Program for Promoting Inter-University Collaborative Education supported by MEXT. As part of the project, we are currently working on CISTEM (Clinical, Information, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) education to establish a systematic educational curriculum in the interdisciplinary field: Clinical Informatics and Technology. In this report, we would like to introduce an attempt to enhance student's problem consciousness and motivation for research and development by making students voluntarily aware of design principles commonly required for medical instruments and medical systems through manufacturing tasks utilizing robotic platforms from the viewpoint of communication and control theory. Especially we here introduce our case studies focusing on the significance of human-human synchrony and human-machine synchrony towards realization of symbiosis among humans and machines.
