Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, wireless body area networks (BAN) are attracting much attention in medical and healthcare applications. As one of applications of BAN, wearable bio-sensors that acquire various biological signals are being widely used. On the other hand, electromagnetic radiation and electro-static discharge (ESD) may have a significant influence on wearable bio-sensors. However, the ESD noise characteristics on wearable bio-sensors have not been elucidated yet. In this study, we proposed a measurement method of charging voltage on the human body caused by ESD and measured the voltage under the IEC-specified ESD testing environment. Based on the measured ESD voltage on the human body, we attempted to clarify the ESD noise characteristics generated in wearable bio-sensors by circuit simulation. As a result, we found that the ESD noise at the bio-sensors varies depending on the contact resistance between the human body and the wearable bio-sensors, and a 2 kV charging voltage may cause a peak noise voltage up to about 7 V at the bio-sensor output. But the time duration is likely do not depend on the magnitude of contact resistance and is always kept at 1.2 $mathrm{mu s}$.
