Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Both sounds and colors do not create concrete objects. However, when human perceives them, he/she hold some feelings. While they may be suggestions of his/her knowledge or experiences, sounds and colors only create abstract objects. This kind of abstract objects is atmosphere. Sounds and colors provide atmosphere. They have been used in fine arts, such as music and abstract painting. The atmosphere created by sounds and colors involves relationships between human feelings and physical Phenomena. While there are works with a transformation from sounds to colors, vice versa, fundamental rules of them are not revealed because the works are created with private methods. In this study, we discuss the relationship between sounds and colors, and propose an approach to create atmosphere. Then, we show a prototype system which creates atmosphere using relationships of frequencies in elements of sounds and colors.
