| Abstract(in English) | Pattern-based machine translation needs translation pattern pairs andphrase pairs, which are usually made manually. A high-qualitytranslation can be obtained if the input sentence matches thetranslation pattern pairs and these translation pattern pairs arecorrect. However, translation pattern pairs and phrase pairs cost alot to make. To decrease the cost, we have developed a method to make translationpattern pairs and phrase pairs automatically. This method, calledPattern-Based Statistical Machine Translation (Pattern-Based SMT), selects translations byusing a word tri-gram, translation probabilities of phrase pairs, andtranslation probabilities of pattern pairs. We demonstrated itseffectiveness in Japanese-English machine translation experiments. |
