Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Higher-order modulation is a key technology to increase data rates within a limited bandwidth. This paper describes the user throughput performance of OFDM-based 256-QAM in small cell environment. First, we describe a design approach for small cells. Next, we present the user throughput performance of OFDM-based 256-QAM under the designed different types of small cells using both legacy and extended channel quality indicator (CQI) Tables. The designed CQI Table is obtained by adding 256-QAM MCS to the conventional 64-QAM MCS. Also the average and 5-percentile user throughput are described for three types of CQI Tables using system-level computer simulation. It is confirmed that the OFDM-based 256-QAM can improve average user throughput, while maintaining the 5-percentile user throughput, when the extended CQI Table is used. |
