Interference Minimization Through Power Allocation for MU-MIMO Under Time-Varying Channels

Abstract(in English) In a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system, accurate channel state information is required to set a reliable precoder. Due to the time-varying nature of the channel, however, a mismatch between the precoder and the actual channel can not be avoided. This circumstance causes the signal to be phase-shifted, and the interuser interference arises. To overcome this problem, a recursive power allocation technique based on the predicted interference level is proposed in this paper. First, we extract the Doppler shift information from the pilots sent by the mobile station (MS) to create a predicted channel matrix. After calculating the predicted interference level for all users, recursive power allocation is conducted to minimize the interuser interference at the MSs. Computer simulation shows that our proposed technique enables the time varying MU-MIMO transmission even when the precoder matrix is not frequently updated.
