The theoretical light efficiencies of Right Angle Mirror and its usage in design of Virtual Image Projector

Abstract(in English) We focus on Right Angle Mirror (RAM) which is a type of Retro Transmissive Material as a key to construct a Virtual Image Projector(VIP). As the elements of the performance index of the VIP, There is the optical efficiency of retrotransmission for forming the virtual image, the optical transmittance for observing real world, and the stray light ratio. These values are cumbersome for the design of the VIP because they are greatly different depending on the inclination of the incident of light. We construct theoretical equations of them and support them through experiments. In addition, we show that we can design the Retro Transmissive Material and the VIP itself suitable for VIP from them.
