Analysis of Holographic Scattering in Holographic Data Storage Recording Media

Abstract(in English) We are developing a holographic data storage as a next generation optical disk capable of high density recording of 1 TB/disc. In this study, the principle and characteristics of a holographic scattering (HS) which became noise factor and occurred in angular multiplex recording on photopolymer material were clarified. First, reconstruction conditions of scatter holograms by weak scattered light generated in the medium during multiplex recording were formulated. Then, diffracted light generated in the medium during multiple recording was visualized as intensity distribution on the screen, and it was clarified that superposition of diffracted light in the same direction is the cause of HS. We also conducted experiments on the characteristics of HS and confirmed that the experimental results agree with the theoretical results.
