Direct coupling reduction by electromagnetic bandgap structures in tapered slot antenna array

Abstract(in English) In radar imaging, a spatially high-density antenna array using wideband elements are used. In the high-density antenna array, the antenna element interval is so small that the direct coupling among the antennas becomes a serious problem. In this paper, we propose a new wideband tapered slot antenna array using electromagnetic bandgap structures. The proposed antenna array reduces the direct coupling while maintaining the same bandwidth. The antenna gain has also increased. In addition, by considering the radius of the via in designing the electromagnetic bandgap structure, we obtained a higher accuracy in the stopband estimation. We also propose structures with less anisotropy.
